A Grounded Approach to Inclusive, Neurodivergent-Affirming Mental Health Care

I’m Meriah Ward (they/them), a dual board-certified Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to creating spaces where people can show up as their whole selves without fear of judgment, masking, or misunderstanding.

Over the past ten years, I’ve worked across diverse healthcare settings to provide equitable, high-quality care to underserved communities. My clinical philosophy is straightforward: everyone deserves to be met where they are, treated with respect, and supported in ways that reflect their true identity.

As both a provider and a neurodivergent person, I understand the exhaustion that comes with navigating systems designed for neurotypical minds. My work centers on neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-informed, and gender-affirming care, offering support that honors the unique ways each person experiences the world.

Where Healing Meets Humanity

A safe, affirming approach that unites clinical knowledge, compassion, and authenticity for genuine mental wellness.

Blending science, empathy, and lived experience to deliver holistic, inclusive psychiatric care that goes far beyond diagnosis.

The Heart Behind My Winston-Salem, NC Practice

Beyond the Exam Room

My approach extends far beyond diagnosis or symptom management. True healing happens when a person feels safe, heard, and seen—and that begins with authentic connection. Each session is designed to reduce pressure and increase self-trust, helping clients develop coping strategies that align with their energy, environment, and nervous system.

I take an integrative approach that combines psychotherapy, medication management, and holistic health strategies for individuals experiencing ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. I also have advanced experience in HIV and Hepatitis C prevention and treatment, as well as gender-affirming care for trans and gender-diverse clients.

A Commitment to Continuous Learning

Medicine is constantly evolving, and so am I. My lifelong passion for learning drives me to stay at the forefront of inclusive care practices. I’m currently pursuing a post-graduate certification in Health Informatics, building on a foundation of degrees and certifications that reflect both clinical expertise and a commitment to innovation in healthcare accessibility.

I believe in merging technology, empathy, and education to improve the patient experience, reduce systemic barriers, and support population health at every level.

A Personal Touch

As an autistic, non-binary, polyamorous, and queer provider, my practice is shaped by lived experience. I understand how critical it is to feel emotionally safe, respected, and affirmed when seeking care. This identity-informed perspective allows me to connect with clients through authenticity, not hierarchy, creating a partnership where healing feels possible and personal.

For me, being a healthcare provider isn’t just a profession—it’s a commitment to social justice, compassion, and community care. It’s about holding space for people who have been told they’re “too much” or “not enough,” and helping them rediscover balance, comfort, and control.

Let’s Connect

Whether you’re exploring your neurotype, processing trauma, managing chronic mental health conditions, or simply trying to feel more grounded, this is a space built around you—your body, your boundaries, and your story.

I’m always open to connecting with others who share a passion for healthcare equity, inclusive medicine, and the reimagining of what compassionate care can look like.
